Last time, we brought up the idea of the demands and needs of the people having a direct affect on the laws which are passed. Today, we dive even further to see how true this is. As we’ve been on a consistent vein about gambling, we decided to look at which country’s politics and laws were directly affected by it.
AZ Congress Watch found that of all the nations which allow gambling, it was Monaco that really stood out. Here are some of their laws as it pertains to the topic of gambling.
Locals Can’t Gamble
When you think of Monaco, you cannot help but think of the super rich, glitzy lifestyles, and supercars. This is the very description of the sort of high society living that one can expect from Monaco. The other thing that is commonly associated with Monaco would have to be gambling.
An interesting fun fact about their laws as it pertains to gambling is that their locals cannot gamble. It is not legally allowed. In fact, they can’t even step into a casino. A majority of the people that live and gamble here are foreign nationals.
A Princess Started Gambling There
When you think of Monaco and gambling, it would be easy to assume that the person that started all this must have been some dude that wanted to really start something new. The truth is that it was a princess that ushered in the very first casino that opened in Monaco. Specifically, it was Princess Caroline and her decision saved Monaco from bankruptcy.
Now, Monaco is one of the bright lights that champion high stakes poker games.
If anything, Monaco much like other places, reflect how laws can be changed in order to accommodate the needs and desires of the people that live there. This should show us that if we so desired, we can completely change the laws of our land. What’s your take on laws as they are deemed by the citizens?
