Hayworth amendment passes in sex offender bill

From the Republic:

[Actresses Sara] OMeara and [Yvonne] Fedderson, along with Reps. Sue Kelly, R-N.Y., and J.D. Hayworth, R-Ariz., are pushing a bill that would create the first national database of child-abuse cases and convictions.

The bill, which is expected to be renamed the Child Help National Registry for Abuse and Neglect, was attached to the Childrens Safety Act last week and passed in the House.

Currently, there is no national database tracking child-abuse cases, OMeara said. Parents who have been suspected and accused of child abuse can cross state lines and stay under the radar, often leading to the death of a child.
