Hayworth used $200K in campaign funds for legal fees

From the East Valley Tribune, which has suddenly gotten interested in Congress (this is good):

Former Congressman J.D. Hayworth has used almost $200,000 in campaign money since December to pay two law firms that are representing him in a federal investigation linked to imprisoned lobbyist Jack Abramoff.

Hayworth said he has not been told that he is a target of the investigation.

“I have done nothing wrong,” Hayworth said. “I have done nothing illegal or unethical.”

Hayworth said he has not been told exactly what investigators are looking into, but said it has to do with his dealings with Native American tribes. Hayworth added neither he nor his lawyers have been notified that he is the target of the investigation.
