Giffords calls Prezs plan stay-the-course plus 20,000

But the focus of Congress right now is on President Bushs proposal to add 21,500 troops in Iraq, which has been met with skepticism on Capitol Hill.

[Gabrielle] Giffords said she is skeptical of the presidents plan because it does not include benchmarks for success or represent a new strategy.

Its stay-the-course plus 20,000, said the freshman Congresswoman, whose seat on the House Armed Services Committee may give her a say in whether Congress will withhold funding for the military buildup.

Giffords also said she will likely visit troops in Iraq and see for herself what needs to be done.
