Protestors to target Hayworth over Iraq

From the Republic:

Peace activists will urge U.S. Rep. J.D. Hayworth to support legislation reducing the U.S. troop presence in Iraq during a protest Friday.

The demonstration at the Scottsdale offices of Hayworth, R-Ariz., is part of a weeklong, nationwide effort to end the 3-year-old war and call attention to its human cost.

Protesters plan to gather at 14300 N. Northsight Blvd., Suite 101, from 3 to 10 p.m.

Saturday, one day before the third anniversary of the U.S. invasion of Iraq. Activists from around the Valley also plan to meet in downtown Phoenix for a rally and march.

Joe Eule, Hayworths chief of staff, said the office plans to listen to the protesters just as they would any other voter in Arizonas 5th Congressional District.

Eule said Hayworths support for the troops is popular among voters.

Clearly the vast majority of our constituents come down on the side of supporting what were trying to do in Iraq, Eule said.
